Hundreds of Government Employees have High Salaries

The Finance Ministry's annual wage report was presented on
Monday and it showed that hundreds of employees still enjoy
sky high salaries, while cutbacks are made all across the
board. There have been attempts to reign these excesses in
for several years, but there is still work to be done.

At a gathering of educators held in Yerushalayim last week,
organized by Beis Vaad Lemechanchim and attended by hundreds,
HaRav Aharon Leib Steinman attacked the attempts of the
Ministry of Education to interfere with the curriculum of
studies at chareidi institutions by means of the Core
Program.
Beit Shemesh Elections Challenged

Natan Shitreet filed an appeal in the Jerusalem District
Court challenging his defeat by Daniel Vaknin (Likud) in the
mayoral elections in Beit Shemesh three months ago and
calling for new elections.
Israel's Prisoner Swap Deals with Terrorists

announced that the prisoner swap deal that had been talked
about for months was finally closed. The key parts are

airport by a prominent delegation from the Gateshead Kolel at

memory of his late father-in-law, Rabbi Eliyahu Eliezer
Dessler zt"l.
Labor Court Cancels Fine for Shabbos Desecration

The National Labor Court reversed a ruling against the
Shomrat Tissman Furniture Company, which was convicted of
employing a Jewish worker on Shabbos.
Dirshu Launches Daf Yomi Study and Testing Program

asked to join the Daf Yomi study and testing program
sponsored by the Dirshu Hashem Ve'uzo, a worldwide foundation
to promote Torah study. The program swung into operation last
Sunday when the Daf Yomi program began maseches

Ovos Ubonim Expands Prize List
