Good Growth Last Year in Israel

Israel's economic growth is so far following the textbook scenario expected by Finance Minister Netanyahu as it showed growth of 2.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2003. For the entire calendar year of 2003 the Israeli economy grew by 1.3 percent, after shrinking in 2002 and 2001 by about one percent each year.

The U.S. government is demanding that Israel coordinate its disengagement plan from the territories with the Palestinian Authority according to a report in Ha'aretz. The American government is seeking to avoid any chaos that might emerge in the areas Israel quits, and to strengthen the connection between the evacuation of settlements and the road map.


The European Union Invited the Heads of the CER to Discussions about Antisemitism

Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission, has invited the heads of the Conference of European Rabbis (CER) for a meeting to discuss current antisemitism in Europe. The topic will be "Europe Against Antisemitism," and it is scheduled to take place this Thursday in the European Commission's building in Brussels. Two years ago the European Commission invited the CER to hold its 23rd convention at the building in Brussels.
