50,000 Turn Out in Rainy New York for a Massive Atzeres Tefilla

In response to the call of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of America as well as revered gedolim from Eretz Yisroel - - including HaRav Yosef Sholom Eliashiv, HaRav Aharon Leib Steinman and the Gerrer Rebbe -- approximately 50,000 came together for an atzeres tefilla in lower Manhattan Sunday afternoon to express their solidarity with the beleaguered Torah community in Eretz Yisroel.

Protests Against the Severe Sentence for Setting Fire to a Missionary Apartment

The judicial system in Israel continues to harass and persecute Torah observant Jews. Last week, the Justice of Jerusalem's Regional Court sentenced one of those charged with setting fire to a missionary apartment in Meah Shearim to eight months in prison and an additional four months suspended sentence.

Last week, hespedim in memory of the rosh yeshiva of Ponovezh, Maran HaRav Dovid Povarski, zt"l were held in Torah centers throughout Eretz Yisroel. In all of these centers, bnei Torah, and in particular those from Ponovezh, gathered to pay homage to the memory of the great marbitz Torah,, vestige of dor deah, who produced so many students and fortified Torah in Eretz Hakodesh.

Inspiring Shuvu Dinner Looks Ahead

In a rare appearance at a public event, HaRav Avrohom Pam, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Torah Vodaas of Brooklyn and founder of Shuvu, addressed the packed audience at the annual Shuvu dinner with strong emotion and emphatic purpose: "Are we to stop now, at seven thousand children in Shuvu? Are we to say we've done our share -- let's stop here? No! No! No! We will go ahead and add more schools. We will build more and more, throughout the length and breadth of Eretz Yisroel!"

Rav Chaim Fishel Rizhi zt'l

Wednesday Rosh Chodesh Adar, HaRav Chaim Fishel Rizhi, formerly a dayan in Yerushalayim and an av beis din in Beersheva, returned his pure soul to its Maker, after a difficult and pain-wracked illness. His levaya, which set out from the Shamgar funeral home, was attended by many gedolei haTorah, roshei yeshiva, dayanim, rabbonim and admorim.

Excellent Ofsted Inspection at Nursery

The Yesodei HaTorah Nursery (formerly Jewish Day School) in Manchester, recently underwent a successful Ofsted inspection.
