HOME & FAMILY Just Get Me to the Shul on Time - or -
A Different Purim Most Purim costumes, whether homesewn or bought, have some
background biography in family lore. Faulty fabrics,
fittings, misfits and children's caprices.
Baalebusta Betterment Our Family, Our Strength: Creating a Jewish Home by Rabbi Yirmiyohu and Tehilla Abramov Marriage is a seesaw: win some, wince some, reminiscent of the Haman/Mordechai swing. A book review with a little of a Purim aftermath taste
WHAT'S COOKING? It's after Purim, and you've had plenty of eating to last for a while. How about this simple recipe, also good for the lean days ahead with time and effort at a premium.
POET'S CORNER
In the Jerusalem that we love,
Everything comes from Heaven above,
Pack up the gloves, take an umbrella,
Rainhat for wife, plastic for fella.
Damp before dawn,
Sun in the morn,
Heat at twelve noon,
Changes too soon,
Cloudy twilight,
Rain for tonight.
Kerchief for the rain,
Here we go again,
Should it get better,
I'll tuck in a sweater,
Boots if its wetter,
Light packer? Never met 'er!
What if it turns warm,
Instead of a storm?
But should it turn cool,
I'll look like a fool.
Some call it wind,
I call it a breeze,
The soft rustling
I hear through the trees.
Packed in a scarf,
So my ears shouldn't freeze.
Umbrellas get lost,
With repetitious ease,
Then again it might snow -
You just never know.
Packing for Shabbos, O what fun,
Why do my suitcases weigh a ton?
When all is finally said and done,
A Jerusalem winter is all seasons in one.
