The Source of the Problem: Mass Usage of Remnants
From where does the modern problem of shatnez materialize
[pun]? If we are not talking about a woolen garment and wool
is not listed in the label, why should we dream that the
garment can have shatnez? Wool is generally considered a
component which hikes up the price so why should a
manufacturer insert wool in a linen garment?
The Knesset voted to require all cigarette packages to be colored with the color that market researchers selected as the ugliest color in the world: Pantone 448c. The idea is that the packaging be as unattractive as possible to deter people from smoking. The restrictions apply to e-cigarettes as well.
Agudath Israel Statement on Belgium Shechita Ban
Agudath Israel of America expresses its grave concern over
the ban in the Flanders region of Belgium that effectively
prohibits the slaughter of animals according to kosher
ritual requirements. The new law places a substantial burden
on religious liberty and on Jewish life in Belgium and other
affected European countries. We are hopeful that the
constitutional court will recognize this serious
infringement on the rights of the Jewish community and
strike down this grievous statute.

Israel, HaRav Gershon Edelstein told a visiting delegation
about the basic principles of chinuch.

Nissim ben Basya shlita is continuing throughout the Torah
world. Many are accepting upon themselves various good
practices for his merit. Lately there has been some
improvement in his condition, but he still needs prayers.
