Condemnation of "Chareidi" Media
On Thursday 25 Adar II, Yated Ne'eman published an explanatory
editorial condemning the various forms of modern "chareidi" media and
calling everyone to refrain from any contact with them.
No Pictures of Victims Without Their Consent
The Knesset gave final approval to an initiative of MKs Rabbis Moshe
Gafni and Uri Maklev that prohibits publication of any picture of an
injured victim of a car accident, terrorist attack and the like,
without his consent of the consent of his family.
The Yeshiva Ketana Law approved by the previous Knesset, which allows
the yeshivos ketanos to continue functioning according to the
tradition handed down through the generations and yet to be eligible
for funding, is legal said Knesset Legal Adviser Atty. Eyal Yinon in
an opinion he submitted to the High Court in a petition to reject the
law as unconstitutional.
Another attempt to amend the law and to provide corrective
preferential treatment for chareidi job-seekers fell short this week
in the Knesset plenum when the coalition and opposition united to
stymie the effort by United Torah Judaism representatives.
The Jewish community in France is worried over the rise of far-right
Front National (FN) party, led by Marine Le Pen, and the Socialist
Party (PS), and by the decline of President Nicolas Sarkozy's UMP in
the second round of local elections.
Opponents of the "Treif Festival" in the Old City, including the
Jewish Quarter, continue to speak out against the event, where some of
the booths serve non-kosher food and even non-kosher meat, with
callous disregard for the sanctity of the Holy City.
