New regulations prohibit slaughter of animals without first stunning them, which injury renders them treif before their death.

At the annual health care health care conference organized by the National Institute for health care Policy at the Dead Sea, Deputy Health Minister MK Rabbi Yaakov Litzman officially announced he could promote a reform of Israel's health care services. In his announcement Rabbi Litzman noted intentions to ask the government to apply the law of succession on the plan, which was drafted as a law two years ago and has been under review since he took office.
A fire that destroyed some 30,000 dunam (about 7,500 acres) in the Golan Heights, including parts of the Gamla Nature Preserve that includes the ruins of the city of that name from the time of the Second Beis Hamikdash, stopped short of the ancient shul there on all four sides. In photographs of the aftermath, the shul stands out against the charred area all around. The fire was started on a military firing range in the area.
A new women's health library in Bnei Brak, named after HaRav Dr. Yissochor Preis, one of the heads of the chareidi community in Basil, Switzerland, was dedicated at a ceremony that drew Mayor Rabbi Yaakov Asher, HaRav Moshe Preis, the son of the deceased, public figures, educators and health officials and volunteers at the information center.
