HOME & FAMILY Journey With Dyslexiaby L. Raffles When I was young, I used to write a list of things I would like for my birthday. Of course I never expected to get everything on the list (still, one can hope, can't one?), but my mother would try to choose something on the list, or something similar that was more reasonably priced, to give me for my birthday.
ASK THE SHADCHAN
Question:
Dear Shadchente,
Usually your column deals with shidduchim. I wondered
if you could speak "from the vantage point of a
shadchante"? After suggesting, calling, recalling,
encouraging, checking, etc. when a shidduch does not
go through, there is a certain let down feeling.
BOOK REVIEW
It's the authors who get all the credit and the editors
behind the scene who, nevertheless, also deserve a good
portion of it. And I am determined to get some of the kudos
for `building this nest' and launching many a
fledgling essay into the leafy world of this particular book.
And of many other books, if I do say so. And I do say so!
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
Just a little reminder — says Tzipie — remember
to keep breathing . . .
TRUE TALES OF YESTERYEAR Rebbetzin Michla, wife of the noted Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman, stood at the back doorway facing the courtyard of her home. The bright sun smiled at her and she felt somewhat tired but satisfied. She turned back to the room; there, on the wall, on crude wooden shelves, were food items necessary to feed her family and her husband's yeshiva for some time to come.
Personality Disorders Almost everyone who suffers from a personality disorder of any kind, will either deny its existence, or be proud of the fact that s/he is more intelligent than others, or is more particular than other people, or more of a perfectionist, as this article will show.
KEEP SMILING
Counting the Omer and Waiting . . .
Right, Wrong
There's a right way to wait, and a wrong way to wait. To wait
in the right way, adds to our power, to our determination,
and to our ultimate success. To wait in the wrong way short-
circuits the system, and burns it.
The Right Breakfast Keeps Weight Down! It seems that your mother was right when she reminded you that "breakfast is the most important meal of the day"—at least when maintaining a healthy weight is on the agenda.
