Gedolei Yisroel Warn Against Birthright Trips to Israel

Last year, gedolei Yisroel in Eretz Hakodesh and the US, headed by Maran HaRav Yosef Sholom Eliashiv, shlita, issued a statement against trips for chareidi youths from the US to Eretz Yisroel that cause numerous stumbling- blocks, in tznius, kashrus and hashkofoh. Maranan verabonon said these trips, organized by a program called Birthright, have a detrimental effect on the participants.


IDF Enters Gaza as Qassams Murder 4 Year Old

Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz said Tuesday that Israel Defense Forces troops will take over the area in Gaza from which Qassam rockets were fired at Israel for the past few days. Mofaz was referring to the area between Beit Hanoun and the Jabalya refugee camp in the north of the Gaza Strip, and said that troops would remain there for as long as necessary.

City of Bnei Brak Cancels Dismissal Notices and Continues With Recovery Program

Labor relations at the City of Bnei Brak are looking up. After months of tension that began with the recovery program and reached a climax two months ago when the City Council unanimously decided to send dismissal notices to 403 employees, there has been marked improvement following an agreement between the municipality and the Organization of Municipality Clerks' and Workers' Committees in which the two sides pledged to make an effort to achieve a comprehensive recovery program.
