Domestic Crisis Deepens: Hospitals Run Out of Money, Protesters Converge on Jerusalem

Finance Minister Binyamin Netanyahu canceled a trip abroad that was supposed to start Wednesday and continue until early next week in order to deal with growing domestic troubles as government hospitals cut services and protesters hurt by the cutbacks converged on Jerusalem.


Sharon Meets Straw and Blair, Says Security Fence Must Go Up

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, visiting 10 Downing Street, has told Prime Minister Tony Blair that construction of the West Bank security fence will continue, despite international opposition. Earlier in the day he met with British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw. The meetings were friendly, but there was not meeting of the minds.

Leumit and Meuchedet HMOs Won't Merge

Knesset Leumit Health Fund and Kupat Cholim Meuchedet will not merge into a single health fund. An announcement to this effect was released on Monday, but it was a trial balloon by Knesset Finance Committee chairman and former Leumit Health Fund chairman Abraham Hirchson. Hirchson resigned from Leumit Health Fund six months ago.

World Agudas Yisroel Executive Board to Meet in Jerusalem

World Executive Committee Chairman Rabbi Yehuda Meir Abramowitz recently sent out invitations to the conference to members of the Executive Board living around the world.

Bein Odom Lechavero Revolution in Israel

In 5761, Kollel Linas haTzedek was founded in Sanhedria Murchevet, Yerushalayim, to learn the halochos of bein odom lechavero. Less than two years later, the venture has expanded into the Linas haTzedek Kollel Network, a group of five kollelim which study hilchos bein odom lechavero.
