An emergency fundraising drive is now under way to save the
Degel Yerushalayim cultural fund after twenty-five years of
youth activities.
Degel Yerushalayim organizes and funds hundreds of shiurei
Torah for youths and adults at hundreds of different
botei knesses, botei medrash and community
centers during afternoon and evening hours and operates
hundreds of evening yeshivas and "masmidim" yeshivas
where thousands of youths work diligently at their Torah
studies and receive prizes for excellence in hasmodoh.
The organization also arranges widely renowned halocho
quizzes taken by thousands of youths.
In recent years its widespread activities have expanded while
government funding from the Ministry of Education has
decreased steadily and arrives several months late. Hundreds
of maggidei shiur have not received their salaries for
more than eight months and money is owed to suppliers and
service providers.
With the blessings of gedolei Yisroel Degel
Yerushalayim is turning to the tens of thousands of parents
whose sons participate in Degel Yerushalayim activities to
offer whatever contribution they can to help prevent this
illustrious enterprise from collapsing.
Degel Yerushalayim heads have sent out personal letters
asking for donations of at least NIS 360 to save the
enterprise for the sake of thousands of yaldei
Yisroel. Contributions can be made by signing a standing
bank order or by making a direct deposit to Bank Hapoalim,
Branch 533, Account 1800-2339006.
