World Jewry Prepared For Sustainable Development Summit
by D. Saks and Yated Ne'eman Staff
After the first day of the World Summit on Sustainable
Development, it seems that there will not be a repeat of the
extensive Israel bashing inside the conference like there was
at last year's Conference Against Racism in Durban, South
Africa.

by Yated Ne'eman Staff
The "Chesed L'Yisrael" organization was established just half
a year ago in New York to serve as a bridge between
institutions here in Israel and donors and benefactors in the

institutions in Israel in light of the terribly painful and
difficult security and economic situation that plagues us by
way of fundraising.

Challenges of the Modern World: Keeping Too Busy
Not all of the challenges raised by modern life to Torah
living are new. Some were familiar to earlier generations.
Unfortunately, the extensive collective experience we have
with them does not make them easier for us to meet.

DAYS GONE BY
Remembrance
by Mrs. Hess
"Remember the days of old; consider the years of many
generations..."
We have been stimulated and inspired by the memoirs of Anni
Rephun Fruchter and gained much.
Now, in her second appearance in Yated
("Kristallnacht" in Av was the first), Mrs. Zippora Hess, 81
years old and Berlin-born, tells of mesirus nefesh for
Yiddishkeit in the Yekkishe tradition. We have much to learn
from these past generations.
