kedoshim who were murdered in Jerusalem on 21 Av. Observations: OU Gives Kashrus Certification to Heter
Mechirah Products The American Orthodox Union (Union of Orthodox Congregations
of America -- the "OU") kashrus certifier has approved the use
of spices grown at Kibbutz Sedeh Eliahu in the Beit She'an
Valley, a kibbutz whose agricultural products became a focus
point of discussions on issurei sefichin during
Shevi'is after its fields were sold through the Chief
Rabbinate's questionable heter mechirah.

In response to the escalating violence against Jews in Eretz

HaRav Avrohom Pam, zt"l, made it very clear that he did not want any hespedim said about him. It is perhaps not too presumptuous to suggest that he would have wanted a discussion of honesty in all one's dealings, since this is a topic that was close to his heart and that he even discussed publicly, at great personal sacrifice, last winter at the annual convention of Agudas Yisroel of America.

Additional Luach Information The last day for Kiddush Levonoh -- Elul One can say Kiddush Levonoh in the entire world until Monday, the eve of 15 Elul (September 4), at 4:07 A.M., according to the Summer Clock, Israeli time, about a half an hour before the alos hashachar. In most of Europe we can say Kiddush Levonoh until 3:07 A.M., in New York until 9:07 P.M., September 3, and in west U.S.A. and Canada it is impossible to say a berochoh on this night since the final time is before the tzeis hakochovim, and for them the final time is actually the entire Motzei Shabbos, the eve of 14 Elul. The astronomical full moon is at 12:44 A.M., three hours and twenty-three minutes before the nigud emtzo'i and nine hours and one minute earlier than the full fifteen days from the molad. It seems that after the nigud emtzo'i we should not make a berochoh with shem and malchus. See Birur Halocho, IV, Orach Chaim, 426, pg. 300.
