Shmittah: Every One Has to Try
Maran the Rosh Yeshiva HaRav Shteinman shlita made the following statement to the Keren Hashevi'is:
The Chazon Ish brings in the name of the SM"A that in these times, when the mitzvah of Shevi'is is derabbonon, the Torah blessing of, "I shall command My blessing" does not apply. However, the Chazon Ish himself maintains that even in present times there is this Divine blessing, and in fact we see that brochoh is found by those who observe Shmittah. The fields of those farmers produce beautiful fruit, in contrast to their non-observant neighbors' produce which is meager.

It was this week in a rare and historic meeting preceding the yahrtzeit of the Chazon Ish that HaRav Yisrael Yitzchok Mendelson visited HaRav Chaim Kanievsky in his home together with the heads of the Keren Hashevi'is, to reminisce about the memory of the Chazon Ish's efforts in instituting Shmittah observance in Eretz Yisrael.

HaRav Shrim is a beloved and esteemed favorite of rabbanan who devotes body and soul for Torah and its reinforcement, as shown by the many yeshiva students who owe him a great debt of gratitude for his devotion for the Torah and yeshiva community in Eretz Yisrael.
