A Moving Gathering Commemorating the Shloshim of the Sasson Children
Our hearts still refuse to digest the terrible calamity of the tragic death of the seven Sasson children which took place in Brooklyn several weeks ago. Alongside our aching hearts, Jews throughout the world cannot help but be awed by the sublime spirit displayed by the bereaved father, R' Gavriel Sasson, who rises up from the ashes and sanctifies Hashem's Name with his messages replete with emunah, and in his steadfast, heroic stand in the face of his awful loss.

From Our
Archives
by Rav Dov Eliach
In his three-volume work, HaGaon, (that was put together under the supervision of HaRav Chaim Kanievsky) Rav Dov Eliach brought together an enormous amount of material, to try to give us some concept of what the Vilna Gaon was. The Gaon was outstanding in many aspects of human development. Our concepts do not do justice to what the Gaon really was. The section printed here is taken from Chapter Six, and is centered around the piety of the Gaon. When reading it, one should keep in mind that this is just one of many areas in which the Gaon lived at a such an outstanding level.

Maybe the Four Walls Understand Better than He Does?
We all are familiar with the type of child that "just does not listen." Although we explain what we meant so lucidly, so many times, he remains the same. Nothing penetrates! We do not even try to force him; we only clarify what we mean, repeatedly - but alas, without any headway. It sometimes seems that to review our expectations with him a hundred times helps as much as the first time. Once is not enough for that child, but then, neither is a hundred times sufficient.
