Bodies are Removed from Graves and Replaced with Other Bodies in Paris

A disgraceful scandal has been exposed regarding the cemeteries in Paris. Jews are duly buried and afterwards, their remains are removed and replaced by bodies of non-Jews. The remains of the disinterred are placed in storage coffins in a warehouse or simply incinerated with a total disregard of human dignity.

The Message of HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman at the Chanukas Habayis of Yeshivas Ateres Shlomo in Modi'in Illit

We are living in a generation where Torah has flourished and increased. On the one hand, this is very encouraging and brings huge simchah but on the other hand, to our dismay, we are faced with elements who wish to legally shunt us aside and not only prevent us from increasing and preserving Torah amongst Jewry but even chas vesholom to lessen Torah. Those in the government don't understand [the importance of Torah] and continually attempt to pass laws against us to constrict Torah scholars. This situation calls for special Heavenly compassion and finding favor in the eyes of those in power lest they create a schism within the population, with one set of laws for one segment and other laws for another, such as never existed before.

Sharp Sanctions Planned against Chareidim who Won't Serve

Ma'ariv reports that according to reports about the plans being made to ensure equality regarding the draft, it seems that the coalition agreement will provide that those who refuse to military duty will be heavily punished with harsh sanctions. Among these: they will be forbidden to leave the country if they do not serve military or civilian duty; their National Security [Bituach Leumi] status will be disenfranchised, bringing the denial of other personal benefits. This package of sanctions will be based on the resolutions of the Plesner committee submitted eight months ago

"The Worst Government Ever is Being Set Up"

"Before our very eyes, one of the worst governments is being put together, most evil in every area and by every measure. Its very basis is founded upon hatred, persecution and hypocrisy , which will arouse vehement opposition. We are expecting it and prepared for it with a sense of mission, and will fight it with determination and purpose," said the MK representatives of Degel HaTorah, Rabbi Moshe Gafni, Rabbi Uri Maklev and Rabbi Yaakov Asher.

London: Severe Shortage of Mehadrin Chickens for Pesach

Beginning the middle of last week, there were no fresh Mehadrin chickens to be had in all of the kosher butcher shops throughout London since at the last few slaughterings, 80% of the chickens were found to have serious kashrus problems in the ligaments (tzomes hagiddin).

HaRav Shmuel Dovid Ungar, zt'l, the Rov of Nitra
In honor of his yahrtzeit, 9 Adar (5705-1945)

The first Knessia Gedolah in Vienna saw a gathering of Jews unprecedented - not only in numbers but also in Torah luminaries. Dusk was fast approaching and the crowd, basking in the presence of leaders such as the Chofetz Chaim and the Imrei Emes of Gur, waited expectantly to hear who would be the baal tefilloh for minchah.

"An Offering Made of Fire, a Sweet Offering unto Hashem"

by R' Yerachmiel Kram

"I Delight Not in the Blood of Bullocks or of Lambs or of He Goats" (Yeshaya 1:11) -- Why Not? The sacrifice of offerings is considered one of those things high on the scale of sanctity. Chazal enumerated it among the three pillars that support the world, alongside that of Torah and chesed. They considered it of primary importance, without which heaven and earth "could not continue to exist" (Taanis 27b).

Saving a Jewish Life (Fiction)

by C. Ofek

A wintry frost enveloped the Ein Shemer camp (maabara) near Chadera and caused the recently- arrived Yemenite immigrants to shiver. The wind whistled with verve, and beat at the immigrants' canvas tents. The rain pelted steadily, transforming the paths into mud patches.
