HaRav Eliashiv Reiterates Prohibition Against Fish Infested with Anisakis Worms

In a letter to roshei yeshivos and local rabbonim in the US, Maran HaRav Yosef Sholom Eliashiv shlita wrote a psak halochoh regarding the Torah prohibition against eating fish infested with the Anisakis worm, following false rumors that he held eating such fish is permitted.

In light of the confusion in the chareidi public regarding the prohibition against Anisakis worms found in fish, I hereby reiterate my opinion that this is prohibited...


Intervention Attempt by Ministry of Education

In response to the blatant attempt by the Ministry of Education to intervene in chareidi chinuch, in ordering the various cities to set up committees to oversee the enrollment of seminar (high school) students in the Bais Yaakov schools, Maranan verabonon HaRav Eliashiv and HaRav Shteinman shlita ruled that there should be no cooperation whatsoever with the committees, and every effort should be made to cancel their operation.


Bus Stop Cancellation Does Not Discriminate in Favor of Chareidi Public

The Tel Aviv District Court rejected a provocative petition by Bar-Ilan University faculty members, ruling that Egged's decision to cancel stops at the campus on Line 319 from Bnei Brak to Rechovot is not discrimination in favor of the chareidi public.


Interim Solutions Sought Until Permanent Genizah Site Established

"An interim solution should be found immediately for the burial of genizah until a permanent, national genizah site is set up," Finance Committee Chairman MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni and Public Petitions Committee Chairman MK Rabbi Uri Maklev told Environmental Protection Minister Gilad Arden and Israel Lands Administration senior officials during an extended meeting held at Rabbi Gafni's office.

A very somber procession of thousands of students and alumni of Yeshivas Hevron and Hevron Geula, led by gedolei Yisroel shlita, accompanied HaRav Chaim Sarna zt"l, the beloved only son of HaRav Yechezkel Sarna zt"l, who returned his soul to its Maker Thursday morning, at the age of 82. Author of Be'er Lachai Ro'i on the Rambam, he taught thousands of students over the course of decades and was a stupendous talmid chochom conversant in all areas of Torah study.
