Many have the minhag to read every morning from a Sefer Torah the parshas HaNesi'im from 1 Nissan until 13 Nissan. From the beginning of Nissan when someone sees a tree blossoming for the first time he should recite a birkas ha'ilonos.

12 Graves Desecrated at Jewish Cemetery in Vilna

When the rov of Vilna, HaRav Chaim Bourstein, arrived at the city's new Jewish cemetery on Sunday, he was appalled to find 12 gravestones had been shattered. A number of gedolei olom lie buried here, including the Vilna Gaon, whose remains were moved from the old cemetery. HaRav Bourstein summoned the police and notified municipal and government authorities.

HaRav Yisroel Grossman zt"l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Pinsk-Karlin for nearly six decades and author of Halichos Yisroel, passed away at the age of 85. His petiroh represents the loss of a godol beTorah and a prominent posek and marbitz Torah.


Government Backs Bill to Provide Equal Funding for Chareidi Education

A bill submitted by Minister Meshulam Nahari (Shas) to force local authorities to fund chareidi educational institutions at the same level they fund all other educational institutions was passed by a large majority during Sunday's cabinet meeting.


US Consul Tours Chareidi Community in Jerusalem

"Employees of the US Consulate in Jerusalem are very impressed by their visits to chareidi neighborhoods, yeshivas, talmudei Torah and synagogues, which show chareidi public life in Israel is based on mutual assistance and helping others, and this is the strength that maintains you and builds the chareidi public," said Stuart Patt, the US consul general in Jerusalem.

As part of visits and the setup of Degel HaTorah branches around the country, Degel HaTorah held an executive meeting in Ofakim attended by Degel HaTorah Chairman MK Rabbi Avrohom Ravitz, Degel HaTorah Secretary MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni and Rabbi Menachem Shapira, chairman of Degel HaTorah's Municipal Department.

Bnei Brak-Elad Road to Open This Month

Good news for Elad residents: Hwy. 471 via Maccabit, from Elad to Bnei Brak via the Bar-Ilan Interchange, will be open to traffic by Pesach the Israel National Road Company told MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni, who has been following the issue closely.

One-Day Dust Storm Hits Israel

The City of Bnei Brak is launching an enforcement campaign to install noise meters at event halls throughout the city in accordance with a directive by Mayor Rabbi Yissochor Frankenthal to put a stop to high noise levels, which have caused a nuisance and suffering for neighbors and people attending the events themselves. The noise level will now be limited to 85 decibels.
