12 Graves Desecrated at Jewish Cemetery in Vilna
When the rov of Vilna, HaRav Chaim Bourstein, arrived at the
city's new Jewish cemetery on Sunday, he was appalled to find
12 gravestones had been shattered. A number of gedolei
olom lie buried here, including the Vilna Gaon, whose
remains were moved from the old cemetery. HaRav Bourstein
summoned the police and notified municipal and government
authorities.
HaRav Yisroel Grossman zt"l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas
Pinsk-Karlin for nearly six decades and author of Halichos
Yisroel, passed away at the age of 85. His petiroh
represents the loss of a godol beTorah and a prominent
posek and marbitz Torah.
A bill submitted by Minister Meshulam Nahari (Shas) to force
local authorities to fund chareidi educational institutions
at the same level they fund all other educational
institutions was passed by a large majority during Sunday's
cabinet meeting.
"Employees of the US Consulate in Jerusalem are very

yeshivas, talmudei Torah and synagogues, which show

in Ofakim attended by Degel HaTorah Chairman MK Rabbi Avrohom
Ravitz, Degel HaTorah Secretary MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni and
Rabbi Menachem Shapira, chairman of Degel HaTorah's Municipal
Department.
Dozens of principals met for an annual conference held by the
Jerusalem Municipality's Department for Chareidi Education at
the Kinar Resort Hotel near Tiberius this week.
