HOME & FAMILY LIFE JOURNEYS: LESSONS FROM THE HEARTThe Pull of the Outside World True Stories by Sara Gutfreund Chana was born into an exemplary, frum family. Her father was a respected Rosh Yeshiva, and her mother was a fountain of chessed who always had her priorities straight. Chana was the eldest of six siblings, and she was a responsible, dedicated student. The children all thrived from the warmth and peace in their loving home, and they never noticed the sparse furnishings or the limited budget.
Eretz Yisroel at All Costs They are well known figures at the airports, which is almost their second home, as they `commute' cross-continent to their workplaces, to remain for a few days, weeks or even months. Happy Birthday, Happy Chanuka
Yael's birthday was on Chanukah. Since we met six years ago,
I've made a big to do about the fact that she was one year
older. We would invite her friends, who would sit and chat,

definitely beat the other times that Yael and I got
together.
The Holiday She suddenly realized that she was not enjoying her unexpected holiday one little bit. She needed her children around her. She needed the noise, the shouting and squabbling. She wanted to be needed . . .
A letter, Re: The article on the lost boy:
(The moving article looked great with the photos, I hope
it helps some people!)
You had a very sad story about a little lost boy named
Efraim. I can't stop thinking about it. I, and I am sure many
mothers, have experienced such a `where is my toddler?' panic
more than once. In These Days, In These Times At times, a long winter zman can feel like a war, as can yeshiva in general. It's a war against outside evil and a war against inner weakness . . .
Your Medical Questions Answered! You are what you eat? To a certain extent. Eating too much of anything is not a solution to any problem, so I am against mega-this or mega-that diets. Low carbs? Low fat? Both are probably important, but hard to abide by. Key is to start early and to make them tasty. They will add vitamins and roughage, which will lower cancer.
