LIFE JOURNEYS: LESSONS FROM THE HEART
The Pull of the Outside World

True Stories by Sara Gutfreund

Chana was born into an exemplary, frum family. Her father was a respected Rosh Yeshiva, and her mother was a fountain of chessed who always had her priorities straight. Chana was the eldest of six siblings, and she was a responsible, dedicated student. The children all thrived from the warmth and peace in their loving home, and they never noticed the sparse furnishings or the limited budget.

Eretz Yisroel at All Costs
by E. Weil and B. Schwartz

They are well known figures at the airports, which is almost their second home, as they `commute' cross-continent to their workplaces, to remain for a few days, weeks or even months. But the home base is always Eretz Yisroel. They wouldn't trade that for anything . . .

a story by Tzipie Wolner

Yael's birthday was on Chanukah. Since we met six years ago, I've made a big to do about the fact that she was one year older. You had a very sad story about a little lost boy named Efraim. I can't stop thinking about it. I, and I am sure many mothers, have experienced such a `where is my toddler?' panic more than once.

In These Days, In These Times
Pre-Chanuka reflections by Dan Neuman

At times, a long winter zman can feel like a war, as can yeshiva in general. It's a war against outside evil and a war against inner weakness . . .

Your Medical Questions Answered!
by Joseph B. Leibman, MD

You are what you eat? To a certain extent. Eating too much of anything is not a solution to any problem, so I am against mega-this or mega-that diets. Low carbs? Low fat? Both are probably important, but hard to abide by. Key is to start early and to make them tasty. They will add vitamins and roughage, which will lower cancer.
