National Degel HaTorah Convention in Zichron Yaakov in Kislev

by Betzalel Kahn and W. Ariel

Hundreds of Degel HaTorah activists around the country are eagerly awaiting the Agudas Hachareidim-Degel HaTorah National Convention scheduled to take place in Kislev in Zichron Yaakov. Rabbonim, members of the national secretariat, party heads and representatives from every city are expected to take place.

The preparatory committee began making plans for the three- day meeting several months ago. Committee members include Rabbi Yaakov Asher, deputy mayor of Bnei Brak; Rabbi Yaakov Gutterman, head of the Modi'in Illit Local Council; Rabbi Uri Maklev, Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem,; Rabbi Yitzchok Pindrus, mayor of Beitar Illit; Rabbi Avrohom Rubinstein, deputy mayor of Bnei Brak; and Rabbi Yitzchok Reich, head of the Rechasim Local Council.

The committee set up a subcommittee whose members, prominent activists at Degel HaTorah branches around the country, were appointed to organize and make the extensive logistical arrangements for the national convention. Preparations are currently in the final stages and invitations are being sent out to all of the leading Degel Hatorah activists, with full details of the convention schedule and the issues to be discussed.

The preparatory committee decided to hold the convention on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the 12th, 13th and 14th of Kislev, at the Eden Inn in Zichron Yaakov.

Messages from gedolei Yisroel will be conveyed to the convention-goers and in-depth discussions will be held on issues currently on the agenda, such as strengthening the Torah world and Torah education, the State's current stance on religious issues and Degel HaTorah organizing around the country. Meetings will also be held with rabbonim and chareidi activists from Eretz Yisroel and abroad.
