HOME & FAMILY Shabbos Candle in a Cupboardby P. Sarit Batya added sugar to her coffee and gently stirred it. Aharon played on the white carpet together with little Tamar. The cool air of evening seeped through the half-opened door. Batya was sitting on a chair looking at the perfect house she had gotten. Who would have believed that she would have this?
The readers are surely looking forward to more chapters of Mrs. Rochel Leah Perlman's memoirs. Well, this story was written almost seventy years ago — for an English class. by Yated Ne'eman Staff A brocho for long life received from a tzaddik is precious. After all, "A tzaddik decrees and G-d fulfills!" But can one always be certain that the blessing will be fulfilled?
Re: The story "It's Up to You" in the Feb. 4th issue from a
reader in England.
I am assuming that the story is 1) fiction and that 2) its
purpose is to teach an important lesson that our behavior as
adults does not have to be determined by our childhood
experiences. We have the choice and the power to change the
way we do things.
ASK THE SHADCHAN Question: Although on paper, the boys I met sounded perfect for me, face-to face they were far from what I am looking for. How will I know who is my zivug?
WHAT'S IN STORE (AGE)? Plan ahead and make your Pesach cleaning that much more organized.
Purim and the Tooth-Fairy It's that season again. Not Purim itself, that's a whole another megilla on its own. Rather the pre-Purim season, when plans for costumes start. It's a sign of aging, that I'm less enthusiastic than ten years ago.
Reduce Nagging Pain in the Neck!
The next time you are learning Torah and find yourself
sitting in a chair, try this isometric stretch to loosen
tight neck muscles. It's a simple and effective way to reduce
nagging aches and pains that wind up making the tops of your
shoulders and the sides of your neck feel stiff. Repeat this
move throughout the day or whenever you begin to feel
tension.
About nursing homes. Elderly, infirm or senile people are
difficult to take care off and can lead to a lot of guilt
feelings as well as overwhelming resources and needs —
both emotional and physical — to deal with them. Hiring
foreign workers is sometimes an option, but this is not
always viable for some families and isn't cheap. Nursing
homes, as in most countries, are expensive [but generally
cheaper than in America].
