The Israeli Left's Geneva Initiative Launched

At a ceremony attended by many former officials in governments around the world -- but no current leaders -- the agreement reached after more than two years of private negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians was feted in Geneva. Although many critical parts were not yet formulated, its initiators -- mainly former Labor party MK Dr. Yossi Beilin -- felt that it can already serve as a basis of public pressure to force changes in Israeli-Palestinian relations.

Agudath Israel of America Conference Calls for Support of the Torah World in Eretz Yisroel

The 81st Annual Agudas Yisroel of America Conference closed Sunday with calls to stand by the chareidi public and the Torah world in Eretz Yisroel and to act to strengthen Judaism in the US. The theme of the weekend was, "Measured Gains, Growing Pains: Shouldering the Burden of our Blessing."

Instructions for Kohanim Entering Hospitals

1. Kohanim should avoid entering hospitals as much as possible.

2. When a Kohen must visit a hospital urgently he is permitted to enter on condition that the hospital is such that most of the day it does not have tumas meis, or at least half the day it does not have tumas meis. The basis for this hetter is that when necessary we can say "sofeik tumoh bereshus horabim tohor" also applies regarding tumas kohanim.

Yeshiva Ketanoh Directors Called on Not to Fill Out Questionnaires

Based on consultations with maranan verabonon, on Sunday it was decided the yeshivos ketanos would not return the Education Ministry's questionnaires on the topic of "tigbur limudei Yahadut" (increasing Jewish studies) at this stage, following the ministry's unexplained cut of NIS 110 million after the budget was transferred from the Ministry of Religious Affairs to the Ministry of Education.
