One Year Since Histalkus Maran HaRav Shach
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
Monday, the night of 16 Cheshvan, all of Beis Yisroel
marked one year since the loss of Maran HaRosh Yeshiva
HaRav Elozor Menachem Mann Shach, zt'l, and yesterday
thousands arrived from around the country to visit his
gravesite at the Bnei Brak Cemetery, pouring out prayers and
supplications for personal salvation and for Klal Yisroel
based on the pledge in his will, "If I am able to advocate on
your behalf I will do so, bli neder."

Communities Around Israel and Abroad
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
Thousands of Jews from every stream of Judaism attended
dozens of gatherings held at heichalei Torah and
kehillos kedoshos throughout the world to mark one
year since the histalkus of Maran HaRav Elozor
Menachem Mann Shach, zt'l, Monday night and Tuesday.
Following is only a sample of the many that were held. Our
apologies to all the other important efforts that were left
out.
Deadliest Bus Bombing in Months
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
Fourteen were reported dead and as many as 65 wounded in the
deadliest bombing in months as a bus traveling from Kiryat
Shemoneh to Tel Aviv exploded in northern Israel. The
explosion occurred when a jeep packed with explosives drove
up behind the bus near Pardess Channa and blew up.
Recollections from the First Siyum HaShas
by B. Yisraeli
Was the goal to sit and learn or to know and remember? Did
the Rebbe want us to skim through the Shas at least
once - or to know the Shas?
Kiddush Hashem at Laniado Hospital in Netanya
by Moshe Schapiro
Netanya is a resort city. It's a place where people come to
get away from it all, and in better times Laniado Hospital
reflected the relaxing seaside environment, providing superb
medical care consistent with a community hospital. But things
have changed.
OPINION &
COMMENT
Searching for Security
The world has definitely changed since last September 11.
An American recently told a reporter: "I would like to live
in Western Europe. To live a good life, a quiet life, not the
life of a world power that is worried about the peace of the
entire planet, that attracts hatred, jealousy and terror. I
would like to live an anonymous life in an anonymous
country."
