PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE
Homework - At What Price?

by R' Zvi Zobin

"Sorele, please help tidy the room!"

"But Mommy, I haven't finished my homework!"..

The Detour
by Sara Carmel

The trees swayed in rhythm with the soft winds that rippled the last few leaves still clinging to their branches. The winter sun pierced the dark clouds, brightening the gray atmosphere of a dull winter day.

Special Education
a story by N. Bar

"Nu, have you decided yet what you want to major in?" asked her neighbor, Yael, the one now finishing seminary. Actually, Shoshy wasn't sure what to answer. She had already picked out her specialty years ago, while she was still in grade school. Her cousin, who was also in seminary, was trying hard to decide but Shoshy already knew then that she wanted to go into special education.

Learning Disabled - or Mislabeled?

Attitudes and Identities
by R' Shlomo Kory

My impression was that for many of them, "LD" might be an inappropriate label and that having that label contributed to their poor performance! Let's discuss why this is so and what can be done to help underachievers and students with minor learning disabilities to reach their potential.

Compassion fatigue is when the helpers of traumatized people take on the very same traumas of the people they are helping. It is not limited to the psychologists, but also prevalent amongst paramedics, police, soldiers, social workers, and anyone who contacts and provides support for terror/trauma victims.

Solar Power Zaps
by Dr. Reuven Bruner, Ph.D.

If you don't protect your exposed skin with sunscreen over the winter then you still have not gotten the message. The sun doesn't take a winter sabbatical. It zaps your skin with damaging ultraviolet rays at any temperature.
