US Secretary of State Colin Powell spoke for 40 minutes at
the University of Louisville on Monday night and slightly
more than half of his remarks were devoted to the Middle
East, laying out the major lines of US policy in the period
ahead. In a change from the US administration's early
reluctance to get involved, Powell acknowledged there can be
no progress on the Israeli-Palestinian track without US help.
Powell said the US "will do all it can to help the process
along. We will push. We will prod." UTJ Issues Ultimatum Over Basic Budget "The support granted to the chareidi educational networks
must be included in the basic budget. UTJ approval of the
budget at its second and third reading is contingent upon
this demand."
A tombstone and memorial for Jewish remains removed from a
construction site in Prague were dedicated at Prague's New
Jewish Cemetery. Last year the remains were returned to the
Jewish community, and were reburied at the New Cemetery in a
ceremony conducted by the country's chief rabbi, Karol
Sidon.
The High Court has rejected a petition to prohibit the Chief
Justice of the High Court, Aharon Barak, from appointing his
friend Boaz Okone to the position of regional judge. The
petition was filed by Noam Federman, an extreme Right
activist.
Agudath Israel Makes Case for Tenafly Eruv In a brief filed before a federal appeals court, Agudath
Yisroel of America made the legal case that the borough
council of Tenafly, New Jersey improperly forbade the
maintenance of an eruv -- a symbolic enclosure creating a
"private domain" where objects may be carried on the Jewish

recently reveals surprising findings about the attitude of

Kupat Cholim Klalit, Leumit and Meuchedet sick funds will
soon stop providing special services geared to the chareidi
sector. Among those services are transportation to the

shul. Rosh Yeshiva of Midrash Shmuel visits the Edgware
Kehilloh Rabbi Binyomin Moskovits, the renowned rosh yeshiva of
Midrash Shmuel, Jerusalem was a guest of the Edgware Kehilla,
on Parshas Noach. He said jokingly that he needed to
make a shehechiyonu for it was the first time he had
