Safety in Crosswalks

The National Traffic Safety Authority, the Ministry of
Education and Israel Police's Traffic Division are launching
a summer safety campaign on the proper use of crosswalks. The
campaign, scheduled to run from June 30th to September 15th,
has adopted as its slogan, "Pasim Lev."

This past motzei Shabbos, parshas Matos-Mas'ei, at
1:00 A.M., thousands of pained and bereaved mourners from all
over Eretz Yisroel accompanied the seventy-seven year old
HaRav Nachman Bulman on his last earthly journey. Though he
had been ill for some time, his petiroh on Shabbos
kodesh was sudden and unexpected.

Last Friday, erev Shabbos parshas Matos-Mas'ei, Rav
Elchonon Tzvi (Charles) Wengrove zt"l was niftar. He
was buried on Har Hamenuchos before Shabbos.

Mourning on Tisha B'Av is the Only Solution
This is another year we have to mourn the destruction. With
all the truly wonderful things that we have experienced in
recent generations, with the vast increase in wealth and the
tremendous growth of Torah, still the overall situation of
Jews throughout the world is bleak enough today that there
certainly is no one who questions the need to mourn -- as
some did in the early exuberance after the founding of the
State of Israel more than 50 years ago.
