OPINION &
COMMENT
Any Corruption is Intolerable
It is one of the cardinal principles of Torah and a crucial
component of the Torah hashkofoh that neither a person
nor life is compartmentalized. Everything, great and small,
must be done properly, according to the moral and legal
prescriptions of Torah. "The law of a penny is the same as
the law of a hundred." Even the things that we crush
underfoot, we are taught, may truly stand at the heights of
the world.

Meriting A Miracle
by Rabbi Avi Shafran
In 1943, after more than three years of German control over
France, the Great Synagogue of Lyon continued to function.
That December 10, the Lyon Milice, the shock troops of the
Vichy government, decided to put an end to the Jewish
worship.

Additional Luach Information
According to the Ramo (494:3) we do not say
tachanun from Rosh Chodesh Sivan until after
Isru Chag. (There are other minhogim that
do not say tachanun until after the seven days of
hashlomoh that follow Shavuos.) On Rosh Chodesh
Sivan we do not say tachanun as with every Rosh
Chodesh. The second of Sivan is called Yom
HaMeyuchas, since after yetzias Mitzrayim
Hashem commanded Moshe to say to bnei Yisroel:
"Now therefore if you will obey My voice indeed, and
keep My covenant, then you shall be My own treasure
from among all peoples" (Shemos 19:5) to prepare
them for Torah. Afterwards the third, fourth, and fifth
of Sivan are the Sheloshes Yemei Hagboloh when
bnei Yisroel waited for kabolas HaTorah
(Mishnah Berurah 494:8, and see Shabbos 86-
88).
