Observations: A Case of False Identity
by Nosson Grossman
Ma'ariv had an interesting article about the
Dolphinarium tragedy two weeks ago. It turns out that one of
the twenty youngsters killed in that suicide bombing, a
certain "Roman Gorochovsky," aged 20, was actually someone
named Sergei Panshcheskov. His body was flown to the Ukraine
under his real name, and that was how it became known that
the young Ukrainian had entered Israel under a false
identity!

Postponed

On 20 Sivan the Jerusalem Court for Local Affairs rejected
the implementation of an order to raze a temporary synagogue
in Jerusalem's Har Nof neighborhood due to a problem found
in the order issued by Mayor Ehud Olmert. The demolition
order was issued on Friday, 7 Sivan, within a few hours
after the request as a result of pressure exerted by someone
with a high government post who lives near the synagogue and
who objects to the shul's presence there.

Planting Torah SEEDS Throughout the Summer
by Moshe Rockove
Pick up an apple seed. Observe it carefully. It's very small
and can easily slip out of your hand if you don't hold it
carefully. Yet despite its very miniature size, the seed has
the ability to grow into a huge apple tree! One little
seedling has the capability of producing so much when it is
put into the ground and properly nurtured.

Economics and Hashgochoh
Modern economists can measure the economy pretty well, at
least in general terms, but they cannot always explain
it.

Additional Luach Information
The last day for Kiddush Levonoh -- Tammuz
One can say Kiddush Levonoh in the entire world until
Friday, the eve of 15 Tammuz (July 6), at 2:39 A.M.,
according to the Summer Clock, Israeli time. In most of
Europe the final time is 1:39 A.M., in east America 9:39
P.M., and in New York it is altogether impossible to say a
berochoh on this night since the final time is before
the tzeis hakochovim and a berochoh must be
made on the previous night.
The astronomical full moon comes together with a partial
lunar eclipse, which will not be seen in Eretz Yisroel since
it will be on Thursday afternoon, 14 Tammuz (July 5). The
peak of the eclipse will be at 5:56 P.M. The full moon, if
there would not have been an eclipse, will be at 6:05 P.M.
When the astronomical full moon is denoted by an eclipse we
do not allow saying Kiddush Levonoh after that time,
which is eight hours and thirty four before the nigud
emtzo'i. It is therefore impossible to make a
berochoh on Thursday night except in the far eastern
countries.
