Call for Yom Tefillah on Erev Rosh Chodesh Tammuz
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
A special yom tefillah was called by the Moetzes Gedolei
Hatorah of Degel Hatorah for Wednesday, erev Rosh Chodesh
Tammuz. Although most of our readers will not see the paper
until after then, we are publishing the special kol
korei that was issued, to provide an indication of the
thinking of the rabbonim on our current situation.
They Called Out to Hashem in Their Distress
In light of the difficult situation of the Jewish Nation, at
a time when Jewish blood is being spilled like water,
mothers and fathers and young children are being cut down,
lo oleinu, in their prime through shocking and
frightening accidents and horrible incidents, including
traffic accidents and bitter and harsh illnesses -- at a
time when the pained cries of widows and orphans rise up to
Shomayim, at a time when the tzoros of the
klal and individuals have increased, at a time when
the suffering of the body and the nefesh is great, at
a time when the general situation in Eretz Hakodesh is very
difficult, especially from a spiritual standpoint, and no
one knows what the morrow will bring -- we are obligated to
cry out in prayer and entreaties, as the Rambam teaches at
the beginning of Hilchos Taanis: "But if they don't
cry out and don't cause an uproar, but rather say, these
occurrences are chance . . . that is the way of cruelty."
Therefore we call upon men, women and children to assemble
in all of the synagogues and batei medrash, along
with the throngs of amcho Beis Yisroel, and to plead
for our souls.
We call upon all to gather for a day of prayer, each
individual in accordance with the custom of each person's
place of residence.
Let us meet together, with one heart, on Wednesday, the 29th
of Sivan, erev rosh chodesh Tammuz, the shmittah
year, in order to render our pleas and outcries before the
Master of All.
Keil Kabir will not reject the prayers of the many
and will accept our prayers and listen to our pleas with
rachamim and rotzon, and will shed a spirit of
purity from Above which will return us to Ovinu
shebaShomayim. Fathers will return to their sons and
sons to their fathers, and Hashem will have pity on us, and
we will not be lost. We will merit the coming of Moshiach
Tzidkeinu quickly out of rachamim and great
kindness
