Maranan verabonon, the gedolei Yisroel have
issued a heartfelt call to the Jews all over the world to
pray profusely for the deliverance of the thirteen Iranian
Jews over whose heads the death sentence hovers. The verdict
of these Jews, charged with espionage, is to be issued this
Shabbos, parshas Korach in Eretz Yisroel (parshas
Shlach elsewhere).
In their call, the gedolei Yisroel ask the public to
recite chapters 56, 77 and 142 of Tehillim, and the
prayer of Acheinu Kol Beis Yisroel.
The full text of the appeal published on Tuesday was as
follows:
Reports from Iran say that this coming Shabbos parshas
Korach (at 1 P.M. Israel time), the verdict of the 13
Jews who have been held in prison in Iran for more than a
year will be issued.
How can we delight in the Shabbos and in all of the
delicacies when the lives of Jews are in dire jeopardy? Who
can fathom what they have been undergoing in this long
period. Indeed, Chazal (Bava Basra 8b) specifically
say: "Captivity is worse than death, sword and starvation
because it includes all of these."
Therefore with a call which stems for the depths of our
hearts, we entreat all men women and children to make all out
efforts during the few days before the sentence, to recite
the following chapters of Tehillim: 56, 77, 142.
By the same token, we ask that on this forthcoming Shabbos,
parshas Korach, after musaf, four chapters of
Shir Haamalos be recited in all of the synagogues and
that afterwards a Mi Shebeirach be made.
A 1:00 P.M. this Shabbos, the time of the issuing of the
verdict, the trustees of the synagogues and the coordinators
of Tehillim groups should also organize
Tehillim prayers for the deliverance of the Iranian
Jews.
Shomayim is eager for the prayers of tinokos shel
beis rabban, on whose merit the world is maintained
May Hakodosh Boruch Hu answer us from Above in the
merit of all of the prayers and Tehillim said on
behalf of the 13 Jews for over a year. These prayers will
rise up to the Kisei Hakovod, and Hashem will redeem
them quickly, and remove all of the suffering and illnesses
which have recently been visiting Beis Yisroel, and accept
our prayers berachamim.
