The Vaad HaRabbonim for Kedushas haShabbos in Eretz Yisroel, under the auspices of our gedolei Yisroel, are warning and encouraging the traveling public who flies abroad on occasion to avoid and beware of flights leaving America on Thursday afternoon and scheduled to land in Israel on Friday morning. This is following a severe mishap which occurred this past week with El Al airlines when the departure was delayed by many long hours, an occurrence which is liable to result in chillul Shabbos. Last Shabbos a number of chareidi El Al passengers spent the day in Athens. Their flight was scheduled to leave late Thursday afternoon, which would have had it land in Israel early Friday afternoon. But it was delayed.
For almost 30 years, since HaRav Shach guided Degel HaTorah to rejoin Agudas Yisroel after then ran separately in the elections of 1988 (5749), whatever representation the combined United Torah Judaism party earned in the elections was split: 60% for Agudas Yisroel and 40% for Degel HaTorah. This has been true at the national (Knesset) level and also at the municipal level in Jerusalem.
The annual convention of the American Agudas Yisroel will open on November 22 in Stamford Connecticut. It will extend through Shabbos.
In a week and a half's time, Jewry will acknowledge the first yahrtzeit of Maran HaRav Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman ztvk'l.

Greatness In Righteousness, Greatness In Wickedness: A Shmuess for Parshas Vayishlach
By HaRav Sholom Schwadron zt'l
A Measure of Greatness
"And Yaakov sent mal'ochim to Eisov his brother . . . " (Bereishis 32:4). Rashi explains, "They were actual mal'ochim." (Although there are two opinions among Chazal whether these were real mal'ochim or human emissaries, Rashi concurs with the first opinion.) We, of course, have no idea what mal'ochim are. Even if we think of the closest thing we can imagine, some kind of holy flaming beings, we are nowhere near the truth, for mal'ochim are wholly spiritual. How can we, as flesh and blood, comprehend them?
Working Mother
by Sudy Rosengarten
Esty is determined to go out to work. Being home with her three children all the time is getting on her nerves. She can't stand shlepping around all morning in a robe on top of her nightgown for lack of motivation to get dressed. She needs something more ego-fulfilling than diapering babies and wiping runny noses. Of course, she loves her children, G- d bless them, but she doesn't want children to be her `all' in life. She wants to continue growing, meeting challenges, doing exciting things. She's seriously discussing the matter with her sister Rivky, who, being older, if only by fifteen months, is a working mother herself and should be able to advise her what to do. Rivky listens to Esty's reasons for going out to work.
