The Committee for Science and Technology held an additional meeting this past Monday about discrimination against chareidi women employed in hi tech, regarding wages. Committee Chairman Rabbi Uri Maklev said at the beginning of the discussion, "Whether there is outright discrimination or only contradictory facts, this issue must be dealt with in order to solve the problem."
Roger Severino, director of the United States Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights, was the guest speaker at an informative briefing presented by Chayim Aruchim, a project of Agudath Israel of America, championing every individual's right to exercise their religious freedom even when faced with life-threatening illness.
The media reported the fact that the Mossad has invested millions in protecting Jewish institutions around the world. How paradoxical this is. We find ourselves seventy-one years after the establishment of the State, which professed to mitigate if not eradicate anti-Semitism in the world. And yet, not only has it not disappeared, but it has made a comeback with renewed vigor. Not only does the State not constitute a cause for reducing anti-Semitism but it in itself is the primary source of its resurgence. How ironic it is that a country needs to invest millions in order to provide security for Jewish institutions around the world against anti-Semitism both from Christians and Moslems together.

Consoling Words
by Chaim Walder
Last week we went to comfort a close friend whose three-and- a-half year old son was killed in a tragic traffic accident in Ramat Sholom. A minibus ran him over, as newspapers reported. But newspapers can't really catch the essence of an incident that defies verbal description. A three-and-a- half year old had been run over. But how do we feel upon learning that when his coat got caught in the door, he innocently cried out: "Wait a minute. Wait." A pure, innocent, three-and-a-half year old who had no idea that the world from which he parted is far more complicated than he had assumed.
