Kohanim Will Have to Leave Israel Through Cyprus for 2 Weeks

The Airport Authority announced this past Monday that upgrading the main central runways at the Ben Gurion airport will take about two weeks. As a result of this, changes of departure routes brought to the attention of HaRav Nissim Karelitz and the Taharas Kohanim Beis Din have determined that all outgoing flights from Ben Gurion Airport will necessarily be flying over the Holon cemetery. Therefore kohanim traveling abroad in this period should leave for their destination from the Haifa airport and travel via Cyprus or from the Ovda airport in the Negev.

by Ruach Acheres, a Special organization set up by Gedolei Yisroel to Explain the Issues

From a letter of Maran HaRav Shteinman, which was signed by all gedolei Yisroel: "Girls and women should not go to study in institutions which are not according to the spirit of chachomim, in which academic studies are taught or preparation for these studies.

"Talk to the Wall"

Yes, it's the title of a new book, adapted from the Hebrew by yours truly, Sheindel Weinbach. If you guessed right, it's about the Kosel. True stories.

I got a bit of flak about the title. It didn't quite sit right with a few Israelis and Americans because of a negative connotation. You know: "It's like talking to the wall..."

Rav Simcha Weissman - Torah Pioneer and Innovator in America First Yahrtzeit: 12 Cheshvan 5767

by M. Samsonowitz

The 100 or so American yeshiva students who went to study in European yeshivas in the 1930s will be remembered as the early pioneers of the religious Jewish community in America. These men bucked the trends of the time, gave up lucrative professions and secular degrees, and dedicated themselves to rebuilding Jewry spiritually. Most returned to American soil after years of study and threw their efforts into building enclaves of Orthodox Jewry. Their combined efforts have resulted in the large religious community in America of today. With each passing year, we are losing more of these unique individuals to whom American Jewry owes so much.

Part Four: A Good Heart

In the second perek of Ovos, we learn about how Rabbon Yochonon ben Zakkai asked his talmidim to go out and find the best, most direct path that a person should adopt in life. His five talmidim gave five different answers: a good eye, a good friend, a good neighbor, concern for the consequences of our actions and a good heart.
