In response to efforts by the various cellular companies over the course of time to expand the cellular contents services available, gedolei Yisroel, headed by Maran HaRav Eliashiv, set up Vaadas HaRabbonim LeInyonei Tikshores to address the problem and the spiritual havoc being wreaked. Through the content offered by new cell phones, the public is exposed to severe spiritual harm that has caused damage beyond description. Many parents and educators are distraught at the sight of all their efforts to educate children in purity going to waste when children and young adults fall victim to the lure of cell phone communication content.

Following prolonged discussions between Degel HaTorah Secretary MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni and ranking Finance Ministry officials during recent months, a decision was reached to increase funding support for yeshivas by 16 percent during November and December. In addition the Team Funds, which the State pledged to pay years ago, were finally transferred.

"R' Yaakov bar Idi pointed out a contradiction between two pesukim: One posuk reads, `And behold I am with you and will guard you wherever you go' (Bereishis 28:15), but another posuk says, `Then Yaakov was greatly afraid and was distressed' (Bereishis 32:8). [R' Yaakov] answered: `[He was only afraid because he thought,] Perhaps [his] sins would cause [his undoing]' (Brochos 4a).
