Yeshiva Students Will Not Participate in Mamach Centers
At the directive of Torah leadership including the members of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah and Chachmei HaTorah, the chareidi public will not cooperate with the newly formed Mamach (Mercaz Miyun Chareidi Chareidi Selection Centers) soon to be operated by the army, since it was exposed in the Hebrew Yated Ne'eman that this center will aim to brainwash, in a sophisticated, missionary-type approach, all yeshiva students and entice them with various lures so as to wrench them away from the yeshiva benches and incorporate them into the army.
Learning Torah brings out the Sweetness of Torah
"By expanding Torah study more and more, one merits savoring the sweetness of Torah." These were the inspiring words of the Rosh Yeshiva, HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman, this past Monday to the heads of the Acheinu Kiruv organization in anticipation of the yearly conference of Kiruv organizations which will take place next Tuesday at the Ramada Hotel in Jerusalem with the participation of hundreds of Kiruv activists from all such organizations throughout the country. The purpose of this convention is to provide them with the tools for successful outreach activities for both those spiritually near [but weak] and far. The heads of Acheinu also heard words of encouragement and guidance from HaRav Chaim Kanievsky and HaRav Gershon Eidelstein.
The forum for coordinating a battle plan against anti- Semitism which deals with closely following anti-Semitic occurrences throughout the world and working together with various government bodies and Jewish organizations throughout the world, publicized a study dealing with the connection between the rise in unemployment among youth and the rise of the extreme rightist and Neo-Nazi's in Europe. Many commentators attempt to explain the rise in recent years in the number of Neo-Nazi demonstrations and groups by the ills of the economy, such as cuts in expenditures, painful austerity measures and especially because of the rise in unemployment among youth.
Yarchei Kallah in Israel for Israelis
Hundreds of participants gathered this past Monday for the annual Yarchei Kallah for Eretz Yisroel residents, with the blessings of gedolei Yisroel organized by Orchos Yosher for the Dissemination of Torah and Mussar. The Yarchei Kallah seminar took place in the Tzipori Bakfar Hotel in Kibbutz Chofetz Chaim for a full two day program of intensive study, shiurim and shmuessen given by gedolei Torah, roshei yeshivos and various Torah disseminators to buttress the long-standing voice of Yaakov in these very days when Torah is being harassed in an attempt to loosen our grip on the Tree of Life.

The widely-acclaimed sefer Machatzis Hashekel, by whose name its author is known, has become part of every Shulchan Oruch. The name itself, however, intrigues us, since it has no connection to its contents.

"Shoham stones and stones to be set in the efod and in the choshen" (Shemos 25:7).
The Or HaChaim asks: Why were these stones written in the Torah after all the other eleven items that Hashem wanted to be donated for the Mishkan? Wouldn't it have been more fitting to write them even before the donations of gold and silver, since they were more precious than gold?

King Solomon remarked about himself that all of the gates of Divine wisdom had been opened to him, with the exception of one: he did not know why the Poroh Adumoh (red heifer) purifies the impure yet at the same time contaminates the individuals who are involved with its preparation. Although we cannot hope to shed light on an issue which was unclear to the wisest of all men, perhaps we can try to fathom why Hashem chose this particular area of Torah to be left beyond the grasp of our intellect.
