Yeshiva Students Will Not Participate in Mamach Centers

By Yechiel Sever

At the directive of Torah leadership including the members of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah and Chachmei HaTorah, the chareidi public will not cooperate with the newly formed Mamach (Mercaz Miyun Chareidi Chareidi Selection Centers) soon to be operated by the army, since it was exposed in the Hebrew Yated Ne'eman that this center will aim to brainwash, in a sophisticated, missionary-type approach, all yeshiva students and entice them with various lures so as to wrench them away from the yeshiva benches and incorporate them into the army.

A study published in Yated Hashavua raised a big storm in all chareidi enclaves, and exposed the dangerous plot to attempt to brainwash, in a very sophisticated manner, all chareidi inductees in order to have them join the army in one form or another. The military heads are determined to brainwash yeshiva students with cult-type hard-sell at their call up, in a gauntlet program which they were supposed to have to go through before receiving their deferment. The purpose, of course, is to oust them from the yeshiva halls.

In the wake of the unclear statements of the army spokesman in response to the report in Yated Ne'eman, the roshei yeshiva and rabbonim conveyed the unequivocal decision of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah and Chachmei HaTorah as follows: "We shall categorically refuse to cooperate with the Mamach military program."
