Knesset Extends Daylight Savings Time - Netz at 7 a.m.
The Knesset Interior Committee approved this Monday a second and third reading of the bill to finalize extending Daylight Savings Time from the end of March till the end of October on a fixed basis.
Dramatic Cut in Bais Yaakov High School Budgets
After a significant cut exposed in Yated Ne'eman in the budgets of Torah lectures and Jewish cultural programs by the Education Ministry, a budget now standing at 3.80 shekel per lecture hour ($1.10) and cultural activities, the Education Ministry further announced on Monday the significant additional slash in the budget of high schools and seminaries plus a demand for retroactive refund of such monies.
"We Will Change This Disproportionate Cut to the Yeshivos"
The disproportionate and unfair cut in the budgets of chareidi yeshivos will be changed. This was declared on Monday by Deputy Education Minister, MK Avi Wortsman (Habayit HaYehudi) in a discussion that took place in the science committee of the Knesset on the subject of the Treasury's intention to cut the budgets for chareidi students coming from abroad to study in Torah institutions.
"One cannot say that this generation is a dor yosom — an orphaned generation," commented once the Chiddushei Harim, "for we have in it R' Shiele!" This, when the latter was just a young man.
