The Ministry Education is Trying to Take Over Chareidi Education

The Ministry of Education, under the current Minister Shai Piron of Yesh Atid, is working to found a new network of State schools that will be called the State Chareidi School Network. Their most advanced effort in this direction is a new Talmud Torah called Beis Rabban in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood of Jerusalem that will be entirely under the control of the Ministry of Education, in contrast to the practice up until now where chareidi schools maintain educational independence, as gedolei Yisroel always demanded.

Buy a Shofar with a Good Hechsher!

Some cases were found of holes that certainly invalidated the shofar that had been sealed up with silicon in a way that could not be detected without sanding it down by machine. I. A Time to Give Birth; A Time to Die

The wailing of a baby suddenly rang out. It came from behind the door and spread with the speed of sound throughout the house. A pair of elderly feet swung down from an iron bed and straight into a pair of worn slippers, righted themselves and marched towards the door. It was opened a crack, but nothing could be seen except for the familiar notorious street. A perennially thick smog reigned outdoors and the skies were cloudy and gray.

Chazal Tell Us How to Overcome Yishmoel

by Rabbi Mordecai Plaut based on a shiur of a rosh yeshiva in Yerushalayim
Part II

With the threats faced by those living in the Middle East and around the world from those of Arab extraction, the following penetrating analysis sheds light on important characteristics of the struggle with Yishmoel as described by Chazal. This is not to suggest that every Arab is as detailed here, but that the essential features of the contest are as explained, and the steps we must take -- which are matters of our personal and private avodoh -- are as outlined here.

The following is based on a tape of a shiur that was delivered more than six years ago.
