ILA Approves Housing Criteria That Favors IDF Veterans

The Israel Land Administration Council approved this week a proposal by Construction and Housing Minister Ariel Attias for affordable housing criteria. According to the proposal, in tenant priced housing tenders (mechir lemishtakein) 20 percent of apartments in a given tender would be earmarked for singles over 35 or families without children, 35% would be for families with one or two children and 45% would be set aside for families with three or more children.

UTJ Councilman in Haifa: `We Won't Allow Shuls to Be Cleared Out'

"The Municipality is not going to clear out synagogues," Haifa City Councilman Rabbi Michael Alper (UTJ) told a Yated Ne'eman reporter, in the midst of a battle in the city following reports synagogues were slated to make room for kindergartens. "I don't know of any synagogue in the city that we will allow to be turned into a kindergarten, and even if there was, it's prohibited to do so," said Rabbi Alper.

HaRav Yaakov Yehoshua was born in 5441 (1581) in a small shtetl near Reisha. His father, R' Zvi Hirsch, named him after his grandfather, the Moginei Shlomo (the name Yosef was added in his later years when he was ill).
