Guaranteed Income for Avreichim Law Draws out Hatred of
Chareidim

Despite the fact that it was mandated by the High Court, and
despite the fact that it merely formalizes an arrangement
that has been in place for some thirty years and adds no
extra money to the government budget, the law authorizing the
continuation of guaranteed income payments to avreichim draws
fiery, hostile debate whenever it is discussed.
Degel HaTorah MKs Report to HaRav Eliashiv on Meeting with
PM

Maran HaRav Yosef Sholom Eliashiv shlita offered words
of guidance to Degel HaTorah representatives MK Rabbi Moshe
Gafni and MK Rabbi Uri Maklev during a visit to his home to
report on their meeting with the Prime Minister to discuss
various current issues. "You must stand firm to prevent any
change in the form of education that was passed down to us
throughout the generations in sanctity and purity," he told
them.
Vaad Harabbonim: 'No Room for Knesset Interference in
Conversion'

"There is no room for the Knesset and MKs to deliberate
conversion, which is clearly a halachic issue," said a
spokesman for Vaad Harabbonim LeInyonei Giyur, in reaction to
ongoing anti-Jewish remarks by Education Minister Gidon Saar,
who has now announced his opposition to the Conversion Law,
which states that only the Orthodox Rabbinate is authorized
to conduct conversions.

UTJ Meets with PM over Housing, Education and Guaranteed
Income

The United Torah Judaism faction met early this week with
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in his Knesset bureau,
where they raised for discussion problems related to housing,
education and Guaranteed Income. The meeting was attended by
Eyal Gabbai, director-general of the Prime Minister's Office;
Tzvi Hauser, government secretary; Natan Eshel, director of
the Prime Minister's Office; and P. Lerner, an advisor to the
Prime Minister.
