"Brains" Behind 9/11 and Shul Bombing in Jerba on Trial
The trial of the man who declared himself "the brains" behind
the 9/11 attack, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who has been
detained at the Guantanamo Bay detention center in Cuba, got
underway in France. He faces charges of planning the deadly
attack at the historic El Ghariba Synagogue on the Tunisian
island of Jerba on April 11, 2002, in addition to his trial
in the US.
Educational institutions in various cities are making efforts
to integrate hundreds of children from the south of Israel
currently staying in locations far away from their
schools.
El Al issued instructions to delay until Motzei Shabbos a
flight scheduled to depart from Madrid and land in Israel
late Friday afternoon.
Violence and antisemitism in France as a result of the war in
Gaza against Hamas ratcheted up this week when three
assailants, with heads and faces covered by keffiyahs, hurled
firebombs at a shul in St. Denis in the 93rd administrative
department (known locally as L'neuf Trois) in the heart of an
Arab suburb Sunday night, 16 Teves (11 Jan).
Italian politicians across the spectrum joined Jewish
organizations in voicing their protest to an extreme decision
by a small, leftist trade union to launch a boycott of Jewish-
owned stores in reaction to the Israeli operation in Gaza. At
first the trade union posted on the Internet a list of stores
in Rome that sell Israeli products, but the products
continued to sell.
