A Special Letter from Gedolei Torah About Priorities in
Giving Tzedokoh
The comments of our master the Chofetz Chaim in his sefer
Ahavas Chesed regarding the character of the mitzvah of
separating a tenth of one's money are well known, namely,
that it is similar to the tithe given to cohanim and
leviim to support them in Torah study. He therefore
concludes that even someone who cannot give all his tithes to
Torah scholars, should make sure to give most, or at least
half of them, to those who toil in Torah study.
Vaadas HaRabbonim Lemaan Kedushas HaShabbos, under the
guidance of gedolei Yisroel shlita, is issuing strong
condemnation as well as expressing pain and shock following
the increased Shabbos desecration by the AMPM chain.
MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni expressed astonishment over the activity
of the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI), which,
instead of standing by the citizen and defending his rights,
chose to send a letter to the Knesset Education Committee
regarding a matter wholly unrelated to its activities, in an
effort to interfere with the curriculum at chareidi
educational institutions. The Association for Civil Rights in
Israel is supported by the New Israel Fund (NIF) among other
sources of funding.
As the Jerusalem City Council prepares for budget talks, the
municipality submitted data on projects soon to be carried
out. The compiled data shows during the coming year the
municipality will build mikvo'os, botei knesses and
botei medrash throughout the city at an unprecedented
level of NIS 100 million ($25 million).
Legal rights organization Betzedek filed a High Court
petition claiming that the City of Haifa is not allocating
facilities for Chinuch Atzmai school Netivot Moshe in Kiryat
Chaim based on nonmaterial considerations.
Plans are now in full swing for an event, which will be
attended by gedolei Yisroel shlita, to mark ten years
of tremendous activity by worldwide organization Dirshu
Hashem Ve'uzo.

We want to alert the religious community to the importance
and urgency of arranging suitable transportation, in
accordance with halochoh, for those riding the buses from our
neighborhoods of Har Nof and Givat Shaul, in keeping with the
dictates of holiness and modesty and preventing the most
serious possible mishaps, which cannot be specified here,
that result from traveling on buses that are crammed to
overflowing with passengers.

Our Power is Only in our Mouth
"And I have given you one portion over your brothers, which I
took from the hand of the Emorite with my sword and with my
bow" (Bereishis 48:22). Rashi explains: "With my sword
and with my bow" -- "I.e., his sharp wisdom and his prayer."
