Hundreds took part in an Arachim seminar in Paris, including
many participants with no previous exposure to
Yiddishkeit.
The weekend event was packed with memorable lectures by
rabbonim, college professors and scientists. At the closing
symposium many participants made various pledges, such as
attending a weekly shiur, and others even accepted the
yoke of mitzvas.
France has over 10,000 Arachim seminar graduates and 1,700
from this year alone. According to one Arachim worker, "The
thirst is growing. The public is drawing closer and closer to
Judaism."
The organization's Paris operations are run by Rabbi Avgi
Felix and Rabbi Yosef Schreiber. Approximately 150 people who
do not yet keep Torah and mitzvas turn out for weekly
shiurim at the local study center. Lectures are given
by Rav Emanuel Algebrali, while Rabbanit T. Azoulai guides
women interested in keeping family purity.
A week long seminar for singles has been scheduled to take
place in another two months.
