Maranan Verabonon Reiterate Warnings Against "Chareidi"
Weeklies Lacking Rabbinical Supervision

Gedolei Yisroel are again alerting the public to the
spiritual dangers in various weeklies that claim to be a part
of the "religious and chareidi press" but which in fact
introduce foreign content and have a deleterious influence on
the Torah-true public.
Jerusalem Draws 1 Million Visitors During Pesach

Some one million people visited Jerusalem during Pesach,
including a constant stream of people praying at the Kosel
Maarovi.
Remaining Damascus Jews Hold Seder in City's Only Active
Shul

An AP reporter visiting Damascus during Pesach met the last
remaining members of the only surviving kehilloh in
the Syrian capital after the late President Hafez Assad
permitted Jews to leave the country in 1992. Seven
mispallelim at Beit Knesset Al-Feranj, located in the
city's ancient Jewish quarter, told the reporter they feel no
religious discrimination.
Hagemach Hamerkazi Expands: First US Branch to Open in
Lakewood

As part of its rapid expansion, Hagemach Hamerkazi is soon to
open its first US branch. Scheduled to open in Lakewood the
new branch will provide service for chareidim throughout the
US under the management of Rabbi Shlomo Korlansky, who
recently made a round of visits accompanied by Rabbi Moshe
Montag, director of Hagemach Hamerkazi, to the homes of
gedolei Yisroel shlita to request their blessings.
Arabs Break in to Bayit Vegan Apartment

Over 30 apartments were broken into in Jerusalem's Har Nof
neighborhood during Pesach using sophisticated forced-entry
equipment. In some cases the burglars removed cinderblocks to
pass from one apartment to another. Policemen and a mobile
forensics lab gathered evidence and fingerprints from the
apartments.
Contractor Defrauds Condo Buyers in NY and Flees to
Israel

Over 40 chareidi families in Brooklyn could be evicted and
their homes possessed after buying condos from a contractor
who fled from Brooklyn to Jerusalem. After receiving full
payment he mortgaged the housing units and failed to meet
payments on various loans. Now the lenders are claiming the
properties for themselves.
