Jerusalem Draws 1 Million Visitors During Pesach

By Yechiel Sever

Some one million people visited Jerusalem during Pesach, including a constant stream of people praying at the Kosel Maarovi.

Bus Lines 1 and 2, the main lines to the Kosel, were boosted substantially throughout Chol Hamoed, along with special direct lines from various neighborhoods. However many residents complained that the Kosel lines were reinforced at the expense of regular bus lines serving chareidi neighborhoods, which were left with an inadequate supply of buses.

Following widespread complaints regarding the allegedly poor performance of the Traffic Police and the disrupted bus lines in various neighborhoods, Deputy Mayor Rabbi Uri Maklev said he would demand the City Council hold a special meeting with various officials in attendance to discuss and identify the problems that arose during Pesach and seek ways to improve the situation in the future.
