Public Notice from Vaad HaRabbonim Haolami LeInyonei Giyur
founded by HaRav Chaim Kreiswirth zt"l

According to established halacha, genuine acceptance of mitzvas, in full, by a conversion candidate at the time of the conversion is an essential condition in order for the conversion to be valid. Therefore if it comes to light that the "convert" did not undertake proper mitzvah observance at the time of the conversion, even if later he does undertake mitzvas, the conversion is not valid under any circumstances.

OPINION & COMMENT

False Conversion

By Chaim Walder

Sometimes, in order to understand a political battle, or even a spiritual battle, the matter must be presented in story form. Otherwise people will grow weary of reading the details and will make do with the headlines or quotes.

Bomah: Unending Aspirations
by HaRav Eliyahu Friedlander

In the days of Maran HaChofetz Chaim a bochur was engaged but suddenly the shidduch was broken, because originally the kallah's parents were told that the bochur had completed Shas when he was fifteen, but in fact he did so when he was seventeen. In their estimation, there was nothing special about a bochur who completed Shas when he was seventeen and the shidduch was based on a mekach ta'us, a false impression.

Additional Luach Information

Taanis Sheini Basra falls this year on Monday, 14 Iyar (May 19) which is also Pesach Sheini and therefore the common minhag is not to fast, but the Luach Eretz Yisroel cites that there is also another minhag to postpone the fast to Wednesday.

Pesach Sheini falls on Tuesday, 14 Iyar (May 19). Tachanun is not said and the minhag is to eat matzos during this day. The Chida writes that we should increase our simchah on Pesach Sheini since it is kodosh to Hashem.
