ASK THE SHADCHAN
Rejection

By Rebitzen Nomi Travis

Question:

Dear Shadchante,

I wondered if you could bring up the topic of giving and getting a NO /negative answer in shidduchim. I see this as a thorny patch in the world of shidduchim, both from the vantage point of a parent of eligibles and from that of a non-professional shadchan.

Cast Your Bread . . .
by Edna Katzav (from Brazil)

The sun began to set. Orange-red spots spread through the sky creating a splendid colorful mosaic on a fall evening. Moshe wrapped his coat around him, wished his family a Shana Tova and turned to leave the house.

A New G'mach and A Story of Hashgacha Pratis

by Risa Rotman

As many of Yated's readers are aware, our dear editor, Reb. Weinbach and I share a similar sorrow; the loss of a teenage son. There is no question that the rebbetzin has been a tremendous source of comfort to me this past year. At one point, she suggested that we go to the Amen rally together.

Migraine
by L. Raffles

A migraine is more than just a bad headache. It is a very debilitating pain. The sufferer usually cannot function and has to lie in a dark quiet place. It has particular symptoms, but there is a lot of variation in the intensity and duration of the symptoms in different people, and not all of them appear in every sufferer.

Reduce Nagging Pain in the Neck!
by Dr. Reuven Bruner, Ph.D.

The next time you are learning Torah and find yourself sitting in a chair, try this isometric stretch to loosen tight neck muscles. It's a simple and effective way to reduce nagging aches and pains that wind up making the tops of your shoulders and the sides of your neck feel stiff. Repeat this move throughout the day or whenever you begin to feel tension.

Your Medical Questions Answered!
by Joseph B. Leibman, MD

Ever hear of Escherichia Coli? Let me introduce this trouble- making bacterium living in your body (in your colon). He is a gram negative rod, and under the microscope that is exactly how he appears: like a non-distinct rod.

The full days of the life of Sarah. May we, too, learn to fill our days

SUNSET
By Hinde Gordon

Oh no, late again! Run, down the stairs!
Fast, out the door! Into the street.
Then stop suddenly, staring, awestruck,
The beauty of the Yerushalayim sky at sunset.

The colors fill my vision,
Pinks and blues, tumbling over each other,
A multitude of shapes and shades,
Soft and delicate, bright and vibrant,
Filling my heart with a kaleidoscope of wonder.
The miracle of sunset in Yerushalayim.

And I . . . What will be my sunset?
Filled with beautiful, breath-taking color,
Radiant with days lived in joy and belonging?
Tumultuous, like the sky in Yerushalayim after a rain.
Pale blue sky with black gray clouds scudding
And flecks of sun peering through,
Still holding color against the approaching night?

What will be my sunset, my years of days
Lived fully in joy and service to the Master Painter?
My sunset will be within me as I near the threshold
And approach His Presence, trembling with awe and love.
Will my sunset be eternity with Him?
Please, my Hashem, with You. Please.
