Sephardic Bnei Torah Party Joins Bnei Brak Coalition

By A. Cohen

With a statement of support by Kuf Dalet — The Association of Sephardic Bnei Torah for Rabbi Yissochor Frankentahl, mayor and coalition chairman of Bnei Brak, the Bnei Brak municipal coalition now has the full support of all of the parties represented in the City Council.

Previously, the municipal coalition was based on 21 of 23 members of the City Council: 14 from the Central Torah Party of Bnei Brak (Agudas Yisroel and Degel HaTorah), 5 from Shas and 2 from the NRP. With the backing of the two Kuf Dalet councilmen, Rabbi Yosef Machbuv and Rabbi Asher Prosper Almaliach, the coalition now has blanket support.

The announcement of support was made during a meeting attended by Mayor Rabbi Frankentahl, Deputy Mayor Rabbi Yaakov Asher, Councilmen Rabbi Machbuv and Rabbi Almaliach and Kuf Dalet heads Rabbi Avraham Turgeman and Rabbi Shay Gadassi.

During the course of the meeting, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor phoned HaRav Yehuda Addes, who gave his blessings for the cooperation and the completion of the move. The Mayor said he was heartened by the announcement of support by the party, which is now joining all of the other parties in support of the City Council.
