Qaida Criminal Threatens Israel; Attack on US Embassy in
Damascus

Ayman al-Zawahri, reportedly al-Qaida's second in command,
warned in a videotape aired Monday September 11, the fifth
anniversary of the attacks on New York City and Washington,
DC, that Israel and Persian Gulf countries are al-Qaida's
next targets. On Tuesday there was an armed attack on the US
Embassy in Damascus. Three of the attackers and one of the
defenders were killed. No American casualties were
reported.

MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni prevented Bezeq from carrying out a
project that would have required hundreds of employees,
including observant employees, to work on Shabbos. The order
to halt the work was given by Bezeq's new board chairman,
Atty. Dov Weissglass.
Tremor Felt in Central Region on Shabbos

An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale was felt in
many parts of the Central Region at 8:00 am Shabbos morning.
The epicenter was near the Dead Sea.
Chief Rabbi Metzger Says Transferring Religious Services
to Local Authorities Would be Disastrous

Chief Rabbi Metzger issued an urgent demand to PM Ehud Olmert
and Finance Minister Avraham Hirschson to cancel the
paragraph in the 2007 Arrangements Law that would eliminate
the religious councils (moatzot dat) and transfer
religious services directly to the local authorities.
