Hatzoloh Volunteers in Galilee Treat Victims as Katyushas
Rain Down
By Y. Ariel
Hatzoloh volunteers were on high alert in cities and towns
in the North, ready to provide emergency rescue services in
the event of Hizbullah rocket attacks. The barrage of
Katyushas caught residents and rescue workers by surprise in
the Galilee, including locations such as Carmiel and Chatzor
Haglilit, which have never before been targeted by
Hizbullah.
Early Sunday morning Nachman Klein, who heads Hatzoloh
Yisroel operations in the Galilee, issued orders to all the
medics in the field to prepare to respond to emergency calls
in the area. When Tzfas, Chatzor Haglilit and Carmiel were
hit by Katyushas, within minutes the volunteers acted to
provide first aid to the injured as well as shock
victims.
Katyushas fells in Tzfas's commercial district and other
locations in the city. "We arrived at the site of the
missile landing. The residents were badly shaken and we
evacuated several shock victims," relates Klein. "This is a
new situation for us in the Galilee, especially after the
relative quiet that has prevailed here in recent years."
Hatzoloh Yisroel Chairman Dovid Greenwald issued
instructions Sunday night to reinforce the emergency
response staff in the Galilee and to send additional medical
equipment to medics in Tzfas, Carmiel and Chatzor Haglilit
in order to prepare them for every possible scenario.
